Watching the baseball steroid use hearings recently, I had a thought.
Before I watched the hearings, I read a great deal in online blogs, sports reports and tv and radio news reports that Roger Clemons was
lying, lying, lying and guilty as sin. After watching and seeing for myself, I can’t see how
anyone can say Clemons is lying and Brian McNamee is telling the truth. First of all McNamee looks like a mongoloid version of comedian and
actor Andy Dick. That doesn’t make him a liar but it doesn’t help his
cause. I think they are both lying but I don’t think Clemons used steroids
and/or human growth hormones very often. But this isn’t what my thought was
about.
My thought was what is really behind the recent report and hearings on
the subject that has been plaguing baseball for a while? Why now, at this
particular point in time? The answer was obvious. President Bush is behind the
Mitchell Report and the hearings. He needed to deflect attention away from
himself and his administration. Bush has got himself into a mess with the war,
a diminishing financial surplus, his anti-science stand and just plain becoming
unpopular with the American voters. Bush picked the all American game for the
subject of a report, knowing the eyes of
What better committee to conduct the hearings than the House Committee on
Oversight and Government Reform, the very committee that makes sure the
government is being accountable for its actions. This is just the whipped cream on the ice
cream. Keep the watch dogs busy with
nonsense.
I don’t think Bush’s plan worked to well. The American people still have
their eye on the man that will be out of office vry
soon.
